The ISFP was founded to stimulate scientific research relating to any aspect of proteolysis which is relevant to human biology and pathology.

Composition of the council

J. Wojta continues as chairman until after the Marseille congress and J. Meijers remains as Secretary-Treasurer. P. Declerck will become Chairman in 2014. Class 2014 (C. Kluft, F. Lupu, V. Ploplis) retires in 2014. Class 2016 and 2018 continue. Nominations for Council Class 2020 are to be submitted to the Executive Director before December 31, 2013. R. Lijnen continues as Executive Director, and the ex-officio members (M. De Maat, R. Medcalf) are also prolonged. The mandate of A. Gils as SSC Fibrinolysis Chairman is ending. N. Mutch is proposed as next chairman.

Membership

One new regular membership and 11 junior membership applications were accepted by the General Assembly; 78 full memberships were paid in 2013 and 30 junior memberships are registered. Ten complimentary memberships are prolonged for another year. N. Booth and O. Matsuo were appointed as Honorary Members.

Financial situation

The income statement and balance 2012 and the proposed budget for 2013 were approved by the General Assembly. The membership fee for 2013 will be kept at 60€ or 100€ for 2013-2014. One travel grant was awarded (1000 €). The Council decided to continue the D. Collen Young Investigator Awards (1 x 2,500 $ and 4 x 1,000 $) and the ISFP Prize (10,000 $) at the next ISFP Congress.

Society Journal

The impact factor of JTH is now 6.08. As Associated Editor section Fibrinolysis, R. Medcalf suggests that ISFP members make suggestions for review topics and write commentaries on fibrinolysis-related papers. The term of R. Medcalf as Associate Editor ends when the new editors-in-chief (F. Rosendaal, P. Reitsma) will be fully in office. Candidates (6 year term) for Associate Editor, section Fibrinolysis, should contact the Executive Director.

Congress 2014

The 2014 ISFP Congress will take place at the World Trade Center in Marseille (July 6-9), organized by M.-C. Alessi, P. Morange and F. Dignat-George (www.atoutcom.com/isfp2014). Because of the decreasing number of Abstracts submitted, it was decided to reduce the duration of the Congress. A joint and partially overlapping meeting with IFRS will again be organized (M. Hanss).
