Extracellular
proteolysis – mediated by the plasminogen/plasmin system and the metalloproteinase system – plays
a key role in many physiological and pathological processes such as
fibrinolysis/thrombolysis, tissue remodelling, development, vascular
biology, angiogenesis, inflammation,
cell migration, fertility, tumor invasion and metastasis
The ISFP was founded to stimulate scientific research relating to any aspect of proteolysis which is relevant to human biology and pathology.

The aim of this website is to facilitate the interaction between the scientists
active in the field of fibrinolysis and extracellular proteolysis and to provide
up to date information on novel developments and on related upcoming meetings.
